Skincare tips to clear blocked pores and blackheads.

Blocked pores and blackheads can occur at various stages in life, whether it be in our teenage years, stress related, illness or hormonal changes such as pregnancy and menopause. When there is a build up of sebum, (the natural oil that is produced by your skin) It’s a fine balance, too little of it and your skin will feel dry, yet too much can lead to an oily, blocked complexion.

When our pores are blocked they can appear larger and subsequently more visible, therefore a great cleansing routine at the end of the day and in the morning is the key to a clear complexion.

We recommend that you follow these simple steps to remove and prevent blackheads and blocked pores without irritation, helping you to achieve your skincare goals.

  • Allow your skin to breathe by removing all traces of make-up, daily impurities and environmental pollutants that suffocate the skin’s natural functions. Gentle Cleanser & eye make-up remover will gently yet effectively remove all traces of make-up. Formulated with pure vitamin E to oxygenate the pores and can be removed with cotton pads or rinsed away, whichever you prefer.
  • A secondary, deep cleanse will ensure all pore blocking impurities have been removed so that your skin is ready to receive all the benefits from the next products in your regime. We recommend Clarifying Cleansing Gel which has Salicylic Acid known for it's pore clearing ability or Super Clean Lotion, simply sweep over the skin via a cotton pad, you will see and feel the difference. If you are suffering with pustular acne spots follow with Problematic Skin Lotion to diminish redness and allow the antibacterial properties to get to work.
  • Don’t forget to cleanse in the morning ~ Skin secretes oils through your pores overnight. Deep Cleansing Face & Body Wash is a perfect choice in the morning, use either at the sink or in the shower. Smooth, natural grains and aromatic peppermint help dislodge pore-blocking impurities leaving your skin fresh and vitalized.
  • Exfoliate gently~ while daily cleansing is important skin cells can still build up on the skins surface. You can easily slough them away with gentle exfoliation. Avoid harsh, skin drying products as this will exacerbate your skin to produce more oil. Our Clarifying & Exfoliating Mask can be used initially on alternate days until the condition improves and thereafter twice weekly to maintain a clear complexion. Gentle yet effective its natural antiseptic properties target blocked pores, blackheads and pustular outbreaks.
  • Use a light, non-comedogenic moisturiser ~ If you avoid moisturiser altogether your skin’s natural response to keep it protected is to over produce oils. Choose a light moisturizer, serum or gel that oxygenates the skin.  Try our Specialist Serum with retinyl palmitate  that encourages skin cell turnover and / or Oxygenating Moisture Protection SPF15 both with pure Vitamin E to oxygenate and neutralize skin damaging toxins.

Additional steps that you may wish to take are Problematic Skin Lotion & Problematic Skin Gel.

These two work hand in hand to target more profuse acne and problematic skins. Putting the power at the beginning of your regime the Lotion reaches the deeper layers delivering antibacterial and anti inflammatory ingredients allowing them to get to work right away as they don’t have to absorb through other products.  Following on with Problematic skin Gel the concentrated antibacterial formula helps control and alleviate breakouts throughout the day.
